Joey Gallo has tremendous power and is one of the best run producers in the game of baseball today.
But his start to the 2022 season has been nothing short of a nightmare.
The New York Yankees outfielder just keeps striking out, something he was doing a lot of at the end of last year that has carried over into 2022.
Last night in the Yankees’ game against the Detroit Tigers, Gallo earned himself a golden sombrero, going 0-for-4 with four strikeouts.
As stated by MLB insider Max Goodman, the Yankees slugger is 4-for-33 with 15 strikeouts to start the season.
That all adds up to a horrendous .121 batting average.
Joey Gallo is 0-for-4 with 4 strikeouts tonight.

Gallo Slumping
Sometimes, slumps can last a while.
This appears to be the case with Gallo, who just can’t seem to get it going.
It’s one of the many reasons why the Yankees’ lineup has underachieved thus far.
The Yankees are only hitting .224 as a group thus far, which is in the bottom half of Major League Baseball and eighth in the American League.
Yet somehow, the Yankees find themselves in a three-way first place tie in the AL East division with the Toronto Blue Jays and Boston Red Sox.
Gallo himself has yet to hit a home run or drive in any runs this season, posting a miserable .377 OPS.
There’s always time to turn it around.
Gallo has a good track record, but right now, he’s in a dead heat of strikeouts and isn’t anywhere near what he has been in the past.
We’ll see if he can get himself up off the mat and start hitting again.
The Yankees are going to need it if they want to kick up the offensive production.
