Joel Embiid of the Philadelphia 76ers has hit the apex of his powers, and he was awarded with his first regular-season MVP award recently.
Prior to Friday’s Game 3 of the Eastern Conference semifinals against the Boston Celtics, he was given his MVP trophy before an adoring crowd at Wells Fargo Center.
During his speech, Embiid had his son come out onto the court.

Many NBA players are very family-oriented, and they often draw lots of inspiration and motivation from their loved ones, particularly their children.
This season, Embiid had his best season ever, averaging 33.1 points a game, which gave him his second straight scoring title, while shooting 54.8 percent from the field, which was by far a career-high.
Just a few years ago, he was criticized by many for not taking care of his body and having a poor diet, which led some to feel he simply didn’t care enough about his craft.
Even though he was already putting up stellar numbers, he was injury-prone, and there were nights when he simply seemed disengaged and didn’t take advantage of his strength and size in the low post.
But now, Embiid has gone from great to dominant, and in doing so, he has put his Sixers in position to possibly compete for the NBA championship.
They achieved a split in the first two games of their series against Boston, giving them home-court advantage going home, and their win even came without Embiid, who was out with a sprained knee, in Game 1.
