Yesterday, following their 12th straight loss, the Los Angeles Angels decided it was time to make a managerial change, relieving former World Series champion Joe Maddon of his duties.
Phil Nevin has taken over the duties of manager in an interim capacity.
The Angels now have lost 13 in a row and are slowly slipping in the AL West standings.
For some, it was a surprise to see Maddon get the boot, especially after what he was able to accomplish with the Chicago Cubs.
But Tuesday, Maddon was asked about his future in the game of baseball.
Mike DiGiovanna tweeted what Maddon had to say.
Former #Angels MGR Joe Maddon says he's interested in staying in the game, "but the next time I’ll definitely make sure the alignment is good regarding ownership and front office, that philosophically you’re on the same page. … we gotta play baseball again."

Different Philosophies
So, if taken literally, we can assume that Maddon and the front office did not see eye to eye on several things, similar to last year’s situation when the St. Louis Cardinals fired Mike Shildt over a “philosophical difference.”
It sounds like the same thing happened here.
At least that’s how Maddon is putting it.
And this is some pretty damning evidence.
Maddon made some questionable comments yesterday after being fired and quite honestly didn’t seem to upset about it, which may lead some to believe that he was not 100% invested in the Angels and what they were trying to do.
Maybe that’s why he’s talking about differing philosophies.
But if there’s anything we learned from the Shildt situation, it’s that you should never ruffle the feathers of the front office.
In this case, however, it seems as if Maddon might have wanted out.
Maybe a change in managers will finally get them up and running again.
They lost their first game under Nevin, but who knows what’s next for this team?
