Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow got his first NFL individual award when he was named last season’s Comeback Player of the Year.
It is a fitting honor for the former LSU standout who saw his rookie season cut short due to an ACL and MCL tear.
But he bounced back and lived up to expectations with a stellar campaign wherein he led the league in completion percentage at 70.4.
The Ohio native also led the Bengals to a 10-6 record and finished the regular season with 366 completions, 4,611 yards, and 36 total touchdowns.
More importantly, he led the team to an appearance in Super Bowl LVI after defeating the Las Vegas Raiders, Tennessee Titans, and Kansas City Chiefs in the AFC playoffs.
That achievement earned him an achievement that will likely be not repeated.

The NFL on CBS Twitter account revealed that Burrow is the only quarterback to be selected first overall and lead his team to the Super Bowl in two seasons.
It’s a difficult feat to achieve because the top overall selection typically goes to the worst team in the league.
Therefore, they might need more than a quarterback to become serious contenders.
Having a talented player behind center is a good start but it takes more than one person to build a strong team.
The Bengals Are Young And Talented
Having said that, Cincinnati has a football team that can compete for a long time.
Burrow facilitates a talented offensive unit that has Joe Mixon in the backfield.
If that doesn’t work, he can find Tyler Boyd, Tee Higgins, and Ja’Marr Chase downfield.
But the most crucial change they’ve done is to improve the protection around Burrow by signing Alex Cappa, Ted Karras, and La’el Collins.
If Burrow was able to lead an explosive offensive while getting sacked a lot, imagine how dangerous they could be once Burrow has time to make plays.
