It didn’t take long before Jimmy Garoppolo took over the starting quarterback role for the San Francisco 49ers.
Trey Lance‘s season-ending ankle injury paved the way for his return at the top of the depth chart.
More importantly, he led the 49ers to victory over the Seattle Seahawks, 27-7.
But aside from regaining his job, Garoppolo also earned a nice financial incentive from the win.

Bleacher Report tweeted, “Jimmy Garoppolo will earn $250K for every game where he plays more than 25% of the offensive snaps PLUS another $100K if the 49ers win the game.”
That lucrative incentive system is part of the Niners’ restructuring of Garoppolo’s contract.
Earlier in the offseason, the veteran quarterback had a base salary of $24 million.
However, that was a high amount for a backup after the 49ers opted to have Lance as their starter.
San Francisco was able to keep Garoppolo by reducing his base salary to $6.5 million but sweetened the deal with an incentive-laden contract.
Other Incentives For Garoppolo
Aside from his base salary, Garoppolo could get up to $500,000 in roster bonuses per game.
Breaking that down further, he gets $29,000 for every game he is active during the regular season.
Garoppolo could earn an extra $500,000 if he takes at least 50 percent of the offensive snaps in a playoff game.
That same incentive will happen if he meets the same conditions in the NFC Championship Game.
He will earn another $500,000 if the 49ers win the National Football Conference.
Finally, he will get a $1 million payday if he plays at least 50 percent of offensive snaps in Super Bowl LVII.
Garoppolo can rake in more money if the 49ers defeat the Denver Broncos in Week 3.
