New York Jets general manager Joe Douglas pulled off a heist in the first round of the 2022 NFL Draft.
After having two picks, he negotiated a trade with the Tennessee Titans to get a third selection in round one.
As the Titans traded their 26th and 101st overall selections, they also received the Jets’ second, third, and fifth-round picks.
The Jets used the earlier pick to select Florida State defensive end Jermaine Johnson II.
He was taken 22 picks after cornerback Ahmad “Sauce” Gardner and 16 picks after wide receiver Garrett Wilson.
It remains to be seen if this haul will help elevate the Jets into legitimate contenders.
However, it’s a masterful move to add top talent to their roster without giving up too much.
More importantly, the Jets have signed Gardner, Wilson, and Johnson to four-year rookie contracts.
Gardner gets $38.7 million, Wilson earns $20.5 million, and Johnson rakes in $13 million.
But while they have signed their top talent, ESPN’s Rich Cimini reveals the Jets draftees that are yet to sign a contract.

Cimini tweets, “RB Breece Hall and OT Max Mitchell are draft picks that remain unsigned.”
He posted this in response to his previous post which said, “The Jets have signed fourth-round pick Michael Clemons, the team announced. It’s a four-year, $4.4M contract for the former Texas A&M DE. It includes an $896K signing bonus.”

Hall was taken in the second round (36th overall) while Mitchell got selected in the fourth round (111th overall).
Both players will eventually get their contracts because of the Jets’ drastic need to improve on both positions.
Last season, the Jets finished 27th in rushing yards with 98.1 per game.
That concern can also be credited to the inconsistency of their offensive line.
