The New York Jets quarterback situation is still uncertain, and they have yet to announce a Week 1 starter.
Given Zach Wilson‘s injury, Joe Flacco will likely lead the Jets in their season opener against the Baltimore Ravens.
Mike White could also get a look if Flacco struggles versus his former team.
However, they can’t finalize their decision because they are unsure what to do with Wilson.
Wilson is only 20 days removed from his knee scope, and the Jets have said repeatedly that he won’t play until he’s 100%. They won’t rush him. https://t.co/KU0feNz58k

ESPN’s Rich Cimini said in an earlier tweet, “Zach Wilson went through a workout today. They will see how knee responds by Wednesday. “Possible” he could start Sunday, per Saleh. #Jets.”
He added, “Wilson is only 20 days removed from his knee scope, and the Jets have said repeatedly that he won’t play until he’s 100%. They won’t rush him.”
Wilson suffered a non-contact injury on his right knee during their preseason game against the Philadelphia Eagles.
He underwent an operation after it was revealed that he suffered from a meniscus tear and bone bruise.
There’s no sense risking an abrupt return, especially if they aspire for his long-term success.
If he is the franchise quarterback they are looking for, playing him hurt lessens his chances of fulfilling that role.
Therefore, Flacco will likely start for the Jets in Week 1 with White as backup.
No Timetable For Wilson’s Return
That the Jets won’t play Wilson until he is 100 percent is the only certain thing in Cimini’s update.
But given the injury’s severity, Wilson might not be able to suit up in the first few weeks.
A quarterback controversy will ensue if Flacco ends up giving the Jets a decent record until Wilson returns.
Head coach Robert Saleh will have to decide if he will go with the hot hand or his talented second-year player.
