The New York Jets have revealed additional information surrounding the surprising decision to start Zach Wilson over Mike White this week at quarterback.
Although players might dictate that they are fully healthy and ready to play, coaches have the final say in the matter.
In the case of White, it appears that he was overruled by coach Robert Saleh.
Saleh said final decision was made last night and this morning. Team's feeling on White: "Let's protect him from him." #Jets

The Jets have playoff aspirations and are within striking distance for the first time since 2010.
With a playoff drought of over ten years, it’s no wonder why the Jets are being so protective with White.
If the Jets can sit White this week, he will hopefully be healthy and ready to go for the team’s Week 16 Thursday Night Football matchup against the Jacksonville Jaguars.
Is 2022 The Jets’ Year?
Heading into Week 15, the Jets are 7-6 and are tied with the New England Patriots for the bottom of the AFC East.
A win would likely be a huge boost to this team, who have lost their previous two contests.
Meanwhile, their Week 15 opponent, the Detroit Lions, has won six of their last seven contests, and can also smell blood in the water.
The Lions haven’t made the playoffs since 2016 when they lost their Wild Card matchup against the Seattle Seahawks.
It will be up to second-year quarterback Wilson to keep the Jets on track this week.
A loss would be detrimental to their season.
The Jets defense has allowed the fourth-fewest points to opposing teams this season, and will likely play the biggest role in determining the outcome of this game.
