The postseason was very bittersweet for Jayson Tatum and his Boston Celtics.
Obviously, the team made it all the way to the NBA Finals after a rough start to their season and a record below .500.
But in the end they weren’t able to stop Steph Curry and his merry band of sharp-shooters on the Golden State Warriors.
So while the Celts are very proud of all they’ve done, they still wish they could have achieved more.
But they’re looking forward to the future.
Tatum sure is and he’s got a solid focus for his next season.
He hopped on Twitter and told fans to send him questions to answer.
*be better than i was last season
— Jayson Tatum (@jaytatum0) July 14, 2022
One of the most popular responses was simple: a fan asked, “Mvp this year?”
Tatum didn’t go quite that far, instead replying with, “*be better than i was last season.”
If that’s the case and Tatum really does do better in the regular season than he did last year then he could become MVP.
Tatum’s Comeback
Tatum already did so incredibly well last season…to a point.
His season average was 26.9 points, 8 rebounds, and 4.4 assists a game.
He was definitely spoken of as a MVP candidate alongside Ja Morant of the Memphis Grizzlies, Giannis Antetokounmpo of the Milwaukee Bucks and, of course, Nikola Jokic of the Denver Nuggets.
Those numbers dipped a bit when Tatum entered the Finals.
For his first Finals run, the Warriors slowed him down and threw a few curveballs at him.
Tatum surely wasn’t happy with how he performed in the Finals and definitely will want to improve on how he played under pressure.
That must be a big part of his desire to do better in the season ahead.
