Fans of the Boston Celtics have been eagerly waiting to see how Jayson Tatum would do in the NBA Finals.
He’s been with the team for a few years now but they have never gotten this far in the postseason.
Now the team is up 2-1 over the Golden State Warriors, just two games away from claiming the Larry O’Brien Trophy and being named champions of the 2021-22 season.
And, sure enough, Tatum has been doing some wonderful work for his squad.
Jayson Tatum of the @celtics leads all players this postseason with 17 games of 20 points or more.
The only Celtic with more such games in one postseason was Larry Bird in 1984 when he had 22 en route to winning his 2nd NBA title. pic.twitter.com/fVfplfxtWh

Tatum now leads all players this postseason with 17 games of 20 or more points.
Only one other Celtic has more games like this in postseason history: Larry Bird, when he achieved this for 22 games before winning his second NBA title back in 1984.
So, does this mean that Tatum is on the verge of claiming his first ring?
Tatum On Top
Tatum came to play this postseason.
He is averaging 26.3 points, 6.5 rebounds, and 6.2 assists per game.
Beyond that, he has also been leading the team in terms of plays and intensity.
But the good news is that Tatum is not an island, as the rest of his squad is stepping up and taking things to the next level in these playoffs.
From Jaylen Brown to Al Horford to Marcus Smart and Robert Williams, the entire Celtics squad has been playing with the sort of intensity needed to win it all.
So while Tatum might be playing like Bird once did, all of Boston is playing for keeps against Golden State.
That is what’s giving them the edge in the series.
Yes, the Warriors have Steph Curry but he needs more help than what he’s getting from the rest of his team.
With Tatum in the lead, the Celtics are showing why they’ve been so dominant for months.
