Jayson Tatum of the Boston Celtics has been waiting for this moment all his life.

The forward has been eagerly waiting to make it far in the postseason and has been preparing himself to be a true difference-maker for his team.

That’s exactly what he’s doing.

Ever since starting the playoffs, Tatum has been terrific, averaging 26.3 points, 6.5 rebounds, and 6.2 assists.

And the number of points he’s scored puts him in good company.

Tatum now joins Larry Bird as the only other Celtics player to score at least 550 points in a single playoff run.

Boston fans were excited to see what Tatum could do in the Finals and now they’re seeing it – and they’re loving what they see.

Finals MVP?

The Celtics currently have a 2-1 lead over the Golden State Warriors, with one more game in Boston before a return to the west coast.

Obviously, the fight is not over yet but the Celtics are meeting – or surpassing – many expectations.

Tatum has been an enormous part of the team’s success so far.

Although he started a little slowly in Game 1 with just 12 points, he got it together in Game 2 with 28 points and 26 in Wednesday’s Game 3.

Of course, Tatum isn’t on his own and the entire Boston team has been strong – that’s what has made the difference.

Al Horford, Marcus Smart, Jaylen Brown, and others have all stepped up on the biggest stage of their careers.

Tatum has been at the center of it all, the glue that holds the team together.

Therefore, if the Celtics win the championship, many people predict he will win Finals MVP.

It’s a team effort but Tatum definitely feels like the most important part of the team.
