The New Orleans Saints escaped with a 27-26 victory over the Atlanta Falcons to open their 2022 NFL season.
The Saints used a 17-3 fourth-quarter run to win their home opener.
Taysom Hill had a solid game as a rusher with 81 yards and a touchdown.
Meanwhile, Jarvis Landry feels at home in his new squad with seven receptions for 114 yards.
Michael Thomas also had a grand return after an ankle injury with two touchdown receptions.
Finally, Jameis Winston continued his solid stint with New Orleans with 23 passes for 269 yards and two scores.
The Saints will face the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, a team that also won their season opener, in Week 2.
However, Winston won’t be affected by the fact that it was his former team.
But I get to go against him, I get to go against Devin White and Lavonte David and Vita Vea and Shaq Barrett. You ’ve got to prepare for those guys.

Tampa Bay Times reporter Rick Stroud tweeted, “@Saints QB Jameis Winston on playing his former team: ‘No, they’re just another team. I’ve got a lot of respect for a lot of those players, some of my old teammates. But at the end of the day, It’s a division game. I’m going against the best in Tom Brady…'”
He added, “But I get to go against him, I get to go against Devin White and Lavonte David and Vita Vea and Shaq Barrett. You’ve got to prepare for those guys.”
Winston Had His Start In Tampa Bay
While the Saints have won their last four regular-season meetings against the Buccaneers, Winston isn’t showing extreme confidence against the Super Bowl LV champions.
After all, they still are one of the top teams in the NFL, especially with Brady returning for his 23rd season.
Likewise, they have playmakers on defense, as proven by their four sacks and an interception against the Cowboys.
Winston will prepare for the Buccaneers without thinking that he once donned that uniform.
The Buccaneers made him the first overall selection in the 2015 NFL Draft, and he lasted there for five seasons.
The team did not bring him back despite having a season with 5,109 passing yards and 33 touchdowns.
