The Detroit Lions are the featured team for the training camp edition for the 2022 season of HBO’s Hard Knocks.
It will also be the first time ever that they will be the team in focus for the said reality-based program.
The storylines have been drawn since last season with the coming of head coach Dan Campbell and the continued struggles of the franchise.
They would also give attention to Aidan Hutchinson, the team’s second overall selection in this year’s draft.
But of all the Lions players at camp, running back Jamaal Williams is already turning heads with this passionate statement.

He said, “I wanna let you all know, man, today is the minimum of effort. Do not give up. Do not feel like you tired. When you tired, think of last year and think of that record. Every time I get tired or I think I can’t go no more, I think of that record! Last year wasn’t it! That ain’t us! We can make it! Have some heart!
The speech elicited more passion when Williams said, “I get emotional about this. I’m about to cry because I care about you all! Do your best! Let’s go! Lions on three.”
Uphill Battle For The Lions
Despite having a charismatic coach in Campbell, the Lions actually regressed from 5-11 in 2020 to 3-13-1 last season.
But their struggles go way beyond those two years because they haven’t won a playoff game since 1991.
The Lions’ last postseason appearance came in 2016 but they lost to the Seattle Seahawks in the Wild Card Round.
Since then, they’ve only had one winning season, a 9-7 mark under head coach Jim Caldwell.
Lions fans hope that Williams’ speech will fire up their beloved team.
