Jokes were being made right away the moment Urban Meyer was hired as the head coach of the Jacksonville Jaguars.
When would he leave for the next big college opening?
The jokes were easy, but they may become actual reality after Meyer’s disastrous weekend.
First up was a loss to fall to 0-4 on the season.
Following the game in Cincinnati, Meyer decided to stay in Ohio with family.
The rest is history.
The head coach is on video getting danced on by a young woman and when it came time to apologize, he seemed to be casting blame everywhere.
Now, we have this report from Michael Lombardi.
According to two Jacksonville sources, there are many closed-door meetings happening over the last two days in the football offices and none of them have anything to do with the Titans. Stay tuned. This might get ugly.

The Jaguars are reportedly holding meetings about Meyer and his behavior.
Could he really be fired?
That may be the case if ownership believes he violated certain clauses in his contract.
That's exactly what is being discussed. https://t.co/DCO8anfRo7

Lombardi claims he has two sources and both are clearly in the know for the Jaguars.
If this is coming from the top, that spells doom for Meyer so early in his tenure as head coach.
Could He Actually Be Let Go?
This is such a wild situation it is almost tough to believe.
Meyer was brought in with a ton of fanfare and was paired up with Trevor Lawrence to begin a new era of Jaguars football.
Being let go after four games would be a true shock, especially if he was fired by the organization.
All the jokes are about him quitting and moving on, not being let go.
But it may all come down to a morality clause in his contract.
There is also the fact he could have lost the locker room.
2) Players were particularly put off by the fact that Meyer canceled Monday's team meeting, as he dealt with the uproar over the videos of him and a young woman getting cozy in that Ohio bar. 'He even canceled the team meeting. He was too scared,' a player said.

Meyer losing the locker room after four games would mean the team would just have to pull the plug.
However, that would obviously be an expensive move.
Having actual cause to fire him is the difference here between firing him with pay and firing him and truly moving on with no commitment.
This is a huge mess the Jaguars were not expecting to be in so soon.
Ownership Makes A Statement
Jaguars owner Shad Khan did release a statement that avoided saying Meyer would be gone.

Regaining the trust and respect of ownership is one thing.
If the front office and players think he is a bad fit, that is what will ultimately get him out.
Yet once again, there needs to be that legal “cause”.
If Meyer was fired, he likely could grab a top college job like the one at USC.
But it would be a truly embarrassing NFL experiment and he may want to avoid the league forever if he is indeed let go.
