No one is expecting the Detroit Pistons to defeat the rest of the East and make the NBA Finals in the new season.
But hopefully, the team is a bit better than it has been over the last few years.
They have been quietly compiling a group of young promising stars.
One of them has been having an impact in preseason games.

Jaden Ivey, the fifth pick from the draft in June, is giving fans of the team a lot of hope lately.
He was showing his brand of toughness and determination the other night as he quite literally grappled with a member of the Oklahoma City Thunder for the ball.
This shows that Ivey has a lot of fight in him and won’t give up the ball easily.
This is exactly the sort of thing that Detroit fans want to see from their new star.
Ivey & The Gang
Ivey was a standout star in college, known for that sort of determination we saw in the video above, along with an ability to score from all over the court.
But he’s not alone: the Pistons have a few bright spots on the roster.
Cade Cunningham, of course, is a great young talent who was almost Rookie of the Year last year.
Marvin Bagley III just got injured but he will also be a vital part of the team’s rebuilding process too, as will Saddiq Bey, Isaiah Stewart, and others.
They are getting all the pieces together for a strong team – their greatness is still just a few years away.
Going to the Finals is out of the picture and even making the postseason might be too big a goal right now.
But the Pistons have some special puzzle pieces in place.
