With MLB fully functioning again, free agency is back in action.
Several stars remain unsigned, but that’s sure to change soon enough, as spring training has already begun, and games will get underway on Thursday.
However, even with stars left unsigned as of now, there’s always time to talk about what could happen next offseason in free agency, as there are sure to be several stars on the market again.
One of those will be New York Mets ace Jacob deGrom, who said his plan is to exercise his opt-out at the end of the year, and officially test the waters out on the market.
deGrom does however plan to stay in touch with the Mets.
DeGrom said his plan is to trigger his opt-out after this season, then stay in contact with the Mets. Echoed Cohen, others in suggesting he wants to figure the contract stuff out after the season.

Will He Stay Or Go?
The hot stove will be sizzling next offseason with deGrom on the market.
He’s arguably the best pitcher in all of baseball today, so he’s sure to be highly coveted once he hits the market.
The Mets certainly have the budget to retain their ace, but it’ll be interesting to see which teams might want to make a play for him.
Could the New York Yankees be on the list of teams who try and sign him?
What about the Los Angeles Dodgers?
Teams will be offering deGrom huge contracts, and his market will be a busy one for sure.
It’s hard to imagine him anywhere other than with the Mets, but there will be plenty of teams looking to make a play for the Mets ace.
The Mets have a rotation featuring deGrom, Max Scherzer, and Chris Bassitt.
They’ll have that rotation intact for at least this year.
But we’ll see what ultimately happens with deGrom, and if he stays with the Mets or ultimately decides to leave.
