The Texas Rangers finally got the chance to introduce their latest signing on Thursday.
Last week, Texas had inked right-hander Jacob deGrom to a five-year, $185 million contract.
deGrom had come back from a shoulder injury and posted a 5-4 record and a 3.08 ERA in his final season with the New York Mets.
Today, deGrom had his introductory press conference in Texas.
When asked about why he and his family chose Texas over other teams, deGrom made his goals clear, discussing his desire to win a World Series and sharing that when the Rangers met with him, they had expressed similar goals.

deGrom Shares His Goals For Rangers
The 34-year-old has won two Cy Young Awards and earned Rookie of the Year honors.
He also was a four-time All-Star during his time with the Mets.
The Rangers have acquired their ace and now look ready to compete for the postseason in 2023.
With an experienced manager in Bruce Bochy at the helm, the Rangers’ goals are clear.
They plan to compete and win a World Series in the near future.
deGrom is of course no stranger to the World Series, having made it to the Fall Classic in 2015 with the Mets.
The Rangers last reached the World Series in 2011, when they were one strike away from winning the title twice before David Freese and the St. Louis Cardinals battled back to win the series.
Texas last reached the postseason in 2016.
Having deGrom to go next to Martin Perez finally gives them a chance to contend and potentially give the Houston Astros a run for their money in the AL West.
