Taylor Heinicke has found his way back into the starting lineup with the Washington Commanders.
While Heinicke got to start in 2020 because of quarterback injuries, the team took Carson Wentz over him in 2022.
However, an injury to Wentz puts Heinicke back in as starting quarterback.
But with Wentz nearly back at 100%, is Heinicke the right choice or should Wentz return as starting quarterback?
There’s No Need To Tamper With The Success Of Heinicke Led Offense
Currently, Heinicke is doing just enough to help the Commanders win games.
Since becoming the starting quarterback, he’s gone 4-1.

One of those wins was against an undefeated Philadelphia Eagles team.
He’s giving the offense an added swagger that they weren’t seeing with Wentz as quarterback.
However, his numbers don’t jump out as something special.
While he’s averaging one touchdown per game, he hasn’t thrown a touchdown in his last two games.
But even with the lack of touchdowns from him, the team’s offense is still scoring and winning games.
It’s how he motivates the offense which is giving them life.
Because of this, there’s no need to mess with the success they are finding with him.
With him defeating the Green Bay Packers and the Eagles, he’s beating teams that many people see as successful teams.
So he’s not just defeating teams who are pushovers.
While his current streak of having no touchdowns is concerning, his leadership makes up for his lack of scoring.
However, he can rebound from this lack of scoring while continuing to help his team win games.
