The Seattle Seahawks looked like they were going to be the worst team in the NFL heading into this season.
They traded away Russell Wilson and gave the starting job to long-time backup Geno Smith.
Luckily for the Seahawks, Smith has been the surprise of the NFL season.
Smith has easily outplayed Wilson this season, as the former Seahawk has looked terrible playing in Denver.
Geno Smith has stepped up for the Seahawks:
— 1st in NFC West
— 7th in pass yards
— 8th in QB rush yards
— 11 TDs, 3 INTs

A Massive Turnaround
After seeing Smith play the first eight seasons of his career, there was no way anyone expected this type of play.
The last time he was a starter was back in 2014 with the Jets.
But, now everything seems to be clicking for him in Seattle.
Having a good run game and weapons to throw to are perks of his current situation.
But, as a pure passer, Smith has been one of the best in the NFL.
It seems like most people are waiting for Smith to turn back into the backup QB we have seen his whole career.
That does not appear to be happening anytime soon.
The 2013 first-round pick has led the Seahawks to a 4-3 record and has them in first in the NFC West.
In an NFC that has a bunch of teams struggling, there is no reason to believe the Seahawks cannot make the playoffs.
Seattle is 1-1 in the NFC West so far this year.
How they play against the 49ers, Rams, and Cardinals will be a key indicator of their playoff chances.
The 32-year-old QB is leading the Seahawks to a place no one thought they could go.
That is why Smith has been the biggest surprise of the NFL season.
