It’s been a rough start to the 2023 season for the Carolina Panthers and rookie quarterback Bryce Young, as the team is currently still without a win this year heading into Week 6.
The Panthers were close to getting a victory back in Week 2 when they fell to the New Orleans Saints by a final score of 20-17.
But other than that, all four of Carolina’s other opponents this season have been able to beat them by at least one score.
Young, this year’s No. 1 overall draft pick, has been struggling in his first season with the Panthers, and insider Ian Rapoport recently revealed why.
“If you look at some of the other [rookie quarterbacks], Anthony Richardson before he got injured, look at C.J. Stroud, they get up to the line, they snap the ball, and they run the play. With Bryce Young, it’s like everything else. It’s protection, it’s adjustments, it’s a lot, and it does seem like it’s been too much.”

Young has had some glimpses of greatness out on the field this season, but overall, he’s struggled to find the success in the NFL that he was able to have during his college career at Alabama.
What Rapoport shared is that Carolina and head coach Frank Reich might have made things just a little too difficult for the rookie quarterback this season.
Young has the talent, the accuracy, and the strong arm, it just seems like he’s been worrying about too many things at once instead of just going out and playing the style of football that suits him best.
It will be interesting to see how the Panthers choose to simplify things for the rookie passer in their next game the Miami Dolphins on Sunday.
The Dolphins have an explosive offense, so Carolina is likely going to have to put up a bunch of points to keep up with them.
