With the start of the NBA preseason right around the corner, things have started to get interesting regarding the immediate future of superstar guard Damian Lillard of the Portland Trail Blazers.
Even though Lillard made his trade demand months ago, the Blazers have yet to see eye-to-eye with another team or teams in order to make a blockbuster trade come to fruition.
Initially, the holdup seemed to be the Blazers’ reluctance to acquire Tyler Herro in a deal with the Miami Heat, as the team already had the guards they wanted to move forward with.
That said, the consensus was another team or two needed to be involved in order to get a trade to come to fruition to send Lillard to Miami, which is his desired destination.
Now it appears that the Heat might not be in the equation at all when it comes to a Lillard trade, with ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski reporting that Miami is not involved in the Blazers’ recent trade talks, via NBACentral.
The Miami Heat are not involved in the latest Damian Lillard trade talks 😳
"Those talks have intensified this week with Damian Lillard, but still there's no trade imminent… So far, the one element that has not been a part of these talks are the Miami Heat."

This is an interesting development, to say the least, as all signs have pointed to Lillard landing in Miami at some point this summer, with Portland simply needing to add more teams in these trade talks.
If this turns out to be true, it’ll be interesting to see what teams the Blazers are currently in trade talks with and where Lillard might be traded before the start of training camp in a couple of weeks.
Lillard likely won’t be happy about this latest development, as he’s made it clear he only wants to play for the Heat moving forward.
