In the span of just 48 hours, the Boston Celtics experienced one of their biggest shake-ups ever and the entire 2022-23 season was thrown into chaos.
Head coach Ime Udoka is officially suspended from the team for the entire season after it was revealed that he had a consensual intimate relationship with a female staff member.
The major change at the top of the team and the media circus revolving around it has dominated the NBA.

Udoka hasn’t spoken in-person to the press but he did release a statement shortly after his suspension was made official.
In it, he simply said, “I want to apologize to our players, fans, the entire Celtics organization, and my family for letting them down. I am sorry for putting the team in this difficult situation, and I accept the team’s decision. Out of respect for everyone involved, I will have no further comment.”
In all likelihood, this will probably be the last we hear from Udoka for quite some time.
The Celtics are now going to focus on moving forward but that won’t be easy.
Celtics Scandal
The new season starts in just a few weeks and you can bet quite a few people will be speaking about this situation at tip-off.
Assistant coach Joe Mazzulla will take over as head coach for the season and he already has a close relationship with the entire squad.
That is vital because the team is hoping to pick up where they left off last season and try to make the NBA Finals again.
This headache caused by Udoka’s actions will hopefully be something the team can sail past as the games begin.
