Cincinnati Reds top pitching prospect Hunter Greene made the big-league roster out of spring training and is already making an impact.
This is a guy who throws extremely hard and has an elite arsenal of pitches.
In his first two starts, Greene is 1-1 with a 4.35 ERA, having pitched just over 10 innings total to start the season.
He’ll make his third start tonight at Great American Ballpark as the Reds play host to the St. Louis Cardinals.
Greene is already in some elite company with pitchers such as Jacob deGrom.
This morning, MLB Stats on Twitter posted that Greene had broken the record for most pitches thrown over 100 mph in a single game since the stat was first tracked in 2008.

A Cannon
This is impressive.
Not only does he throw incredibly hard, but he’s already in some company with deGrom, who is arguably the best pitcher in all of baseball today.
This guy has an absolute cannon of an arm.
The Cardinals are going to be in for a surprise tonight when they face him for the first time.
This is a guy that no team should want to face.
He’s got electric stuff and can blow guys away with his heaters.
And he’s only 22 years old.
It’s rare for somebody this young to throw that hard, but Greene is doing just that at a very young age.
He’s got an incredibly bright future ahead of him and is a piece that the Reds are going to want to build around when they attempt to create a contending ballclub again.
Could he be the second coming of Justin Verlander?
Maybe.
We’ll see if he can continue to blow hitters away with 100+ mph stuff.
