Neither the New York Jets nor the New York Giants have to travel for their first NFL preseason game since 2019.
Both teams will square off against each other at MetLife Stadium for a Saturday evening preseason matchup.
In the battle of New York’s young quarterbacks, it looks like fans will only see one of the two.
That is rookie Zach Wilson.
Giants quarterback Daniel Jones will not play.
This is slightly different from what #Jets HC Robert Saleh said earlier this week when he said Zach Wilson will "play at least a quarter" vs the #Giants.
On the other side of the coin, Daniel Jones has been ruled OUT for the game on Saturday, per @AdamSchefter. https://t.co/838g434wSe

Wilson was late arriving to camp because his contract was not negotiated, and he has gotten off to a slow start.
The first preseason game will give coach Robert Saleh a better handle on Wilson’s development.
Robert Saleh says what he's hoping to see from Zach Wilson in this first preseason game vs the #Giants is "seeing him more comfortable out there." He also said that the offense is fully installed & now they can start repeating things to get better. #JetsCamp #Jets

Rookie Coach Vs. Second-Year Coach
The New York football teams have seen their share of turbulence in the past few years.
Coaching changes have been frequent.
This preseason game pits New York Jets rookie coach Saleh against second-year Giants coach Joe Judge.
Both come from impressive coaching trees and served as NFL coordinators as they worked their way up the coaching ladder.
Saleh, 42, spent the last four seasons as the defensive coordinator for the San Francisco 49ers.
39-year-old Judge worked within the New England Patriots organization from 2012-2019 before accepting the Giants job in 2020.
Both bring youth and excitement to their respective teams and the strong desire to make them playoff-worthy in 2021.
