It’s no secret that sports fans love round numbers, and in the MLB world, winning 100 games is always regarded as a major feat.
Last year, three MLB teams were able to accomplish that goal.
This year, it looks like we could have another big number.
The 2022 season isn’t very young anymore, and some teams are starting to separate themselves as truly elite clubs.
So, exactly how many 100-game winners will the season produce?
Teams Currently On Pace To Win 100 Games
As things stand now, four MLB teams are on pace to win 100 or more games this season.
Let’s take a look at those clubs.
- New York Yankees
At 50-18, the Yankees are enjoying an incredible year.
They have the best record in the big leagues, and it’s not particularly close.

New York is currently projected to win 119 games, which would break the MLB record for wins in a season.
Time will tell if the squad accomplishes that feat, but regardless, a 100-win season seems like a lock for the Yankees.
- New York Mets
Will the state of New York produce two 100-game winners this year?
It’s certainly possible.
Thanks to their 45-25 record, the Mets have a pretty solid lead atop the NL East at the moment.
They’re on pace for 104 wins and may very well end up with the best record in the entire National League this season.
- Houston Astros
The Astros are 42-25 so far, putting them on schedule for about 102 victories.
They’re also the only team in the AL West with a winning record.

A 100-win season would be nothing new for the Astros, who accomplished that goal in three straight years from 2017 to 2019.
They’d certainly love to do it again this season, but it might come down to the wire.
We’ll see if they’re able to take advantage of their relatively favorable remaining schedule.
- Los Angeles Dodgers
The Dodgers won 106 games last season.
This season, it doesn’t seem likely that they’ll get to 106 again, but they could definitely reach 100.
They’re 41-25 so far, meaning they’re on pace for roughly 101 wins.
However, it’s worth noting that Los Angeles’ remaining schedule is going to be much tougher than the slate they’ve faced to this point.
If the Dodgers want to win 100, they’re going to have to deal with that obstacle.
1 Other Team That Could Crash The 100-Win Party
Just because a team isn’t currently on pace for 100 wins doesn’t mean it can’t get there.
There’s one team we haven’t mentioned yet that could make a serious run at 100 wins.
- San Diego Padres
The Padres are actually in a virtual tie with the Dodgers atop the NL West right now, with percentage points giving the Dodgers a slight edge.
Interestingly, that difference in percentage points is enough for the Padres to be on pace for under 100 wins while the Dodgers are on pace for 101.
San Diego is 43-27 and is looking to make the playoffs for just the second time since 2006.
Making the postseason is undoubtedly the Padres’ top priority, but reaching 100 wins would be a nice touch as well.
