Fans of the New Orleans Pelicans had plenty of reasons to be happy about Sunday night’s game.
The Pelicans evened the series against the Phoenix Suns in a huge way, claiming a major 118-103 victory.
The performances from Brandon Ingram, CJ McCollum, and Jonas Valanciunas were spectacular.
So was the work done by Jose Alvarado.
But it was the plays from rookie Herb Jones that had the crowd on its feet.

Jones secured three pivotal blocks in the game.
Not only were they blocks, but they were blocks on three-point attempts.
Watching his highlight reel from Sunday is like watching a seasoned pro who has been playing in the league for years.
How is it possible that this is Jones’ first year?
Don’t Hurt ‘Em, Herb
According to NOLA.com, during the regular season, Jones was ranked third among all NBA players in steals and tied for 36th in blocks.
Reminder: he has done all of this during his first year in the league.
Jones was the 35th overall pick in the 2021 NBA Draft and has gone mostly unnoticed by most of the press and NBA fans this year.
But the NBA playoffs are a coming-out party for many up-and-coming stars in the making.
That’s definitely true for Jones, who is grabbing the attention of many now.
Jones proves that the Pelicans are a strong eighth-seed.
There is a reason that they were getting better as the regular season went on.
They are quickly becoming one of the most exciting and powerful teams in the West, specifically because of players like Jones.
Will Jones and his blocks be enough to get them into the second round?
At this point, anything is possible.
