The Cleveland Guardians have a little excitement brewing around a certain player early on this season.
Rookie outfielder Steven Kwan has come out of nowhere and burst onto the scene to start the 2022 season, and in doing so has put the rest of the baseball world on notice.
Though it’s probably too early to discuss who the American League Rookie of the Year will be in 2022, it’s certainly worth considering Kwan.
The legend of Kwan grew on Monday in Kansas City when he cleared the bases with a triple for his first three RBIs.
He also has yet to swing and miss and according to Sarah Langs of MLB.com, he has the most swings of anybody thus far who has yet to swing and miss with 26.
Most swings this season among players who have ZERO swings & misses:
Steven Kwan: 26
Eloy Jiménez: 18
Willie Calhoun: 13
Ryan Jeffers: 12— Sarah Langs (@SlangsOnSports) April 12, 2022
Kwan Making History
In just 13 at-bats, Kwan is already hitting .692.
Again, it certainly is too early to decide who will win the AL Rookie of the Year Award, especially with players such as Spencer Torkelson and Bobby Witt Jr. playing within the same division as Kwan, but Kwan certainly has garnered a little early consideration from some.
This man simply cannot be stopped.
He can’t swing and miss or even be retired.
This is history and we’re all just living it.
What a way to start a career.
It’s also worth noting that on the list of players who have yet to swing and miss, Chicago White Sox star Eloy Jimenez sits in second, meaning Kwan is already in some elite company.
He is chasing records early in his career and is on a historic pace.
Being eight for his first 10 was impressive enough, but he is showing zero signs of slowing down anytime soon.
