There’s some sad news coming out of Cleveland this afternoon.
On Twitter, the Cleveland Guardians broke the difficult news that rookie sensation Steven Kwan‘s incredible streak of not swinging and missing at a pitch and striking out has come to an end, as Cincinnati Reds rookie Nick Lodolo struck him out for the first strikeout of his young career.
The Guardians have asked that fans and the media respect their privacy during this unimaginably difficult time.
Kwan’s streak of pitches seen without a swing and a miss ends at 116.
Shortly after that streak came to an end, he went down looking.
We mourn the loss of Steven Kwan's incredible streak.

R.I.P. Kwan’s Streak
All good things must come to an end at some point, right?
But it’s tough to see such a legendary streak come to an end.
Kwan was off to an unbelievable start in 2022 and had put himself in the conversation for the American League Rookie of the Year Award early on.
Though that likely will not change, it’s still disappointing that Kwan’s streak is over.
But look on the bright side, folks.
This means he now has a chance to start another legendary streak.
Kwan is far from through doing damage if his five-hit game against the Kansas City Royals on Sunday was any indication.
Kwan is still off to a fantastic start and is a dangerous hitter in the Guardians lineup.
You can bet he’ll be fueled to come back stronger after this strikeout.
One strikeout doesn’t end the magic, it just means that the streak is over.
But the legend of Steven Kwan will continue to grow and be remembered in baseball history for a long time.
Kwan will recover, and so will the Guardians.
