The Cleveland Guardians take a lot of pride in their farm system and their player development staff.
And they have every reason to do that: they have put together an impressive minor league system that continually fed the MLB squad last year with quality players.
There is more talent on the way, and that’s in large part thanks to the organization’s ability to identify and develop talent.
On Tuesday, the team announced their minor league/player development staffs.
Twitter user @JL_Baseball, who writes about the Guardians and their minor leagues for Next Year In Cleveland and Prospects Live, wrote a really long and comprehensive guide on the minor league and player development coaching staffs, with useful details and descriptions.
One of the gems he wrote was about Amanda Kamekona.
“Also of note others have pointed out today, Amanda Kamekona joins the Guardians at their Arizona Complex level as a hitting dev coach and the orgs first on-field female coach. They’ve already had plenty of terrific women in support staff roles, but Kamekona is their first on-field,” he tweeted.

A two-year member of the UCLA softball program in 2008 and 2009, her career was excellent and earned her two NFCA Third-Team All-America selections.
She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology from UCLA and a pair of Associate of Arts degrees.
She started coaching at Limestone College and Brevard College, and most recently coached at Bishop Amat Memorial High School in La Puente, Calif.
The Guardians have had women coach mental skills but not work with players on field, so this one is a first for them.
Kamekona has earned the opportunity, though, and will try to help guide young Guardians hitter onto the path of success.
