Because of some injury questions surrounding his forearm and the uncertain nature of the 2021-22 MLB offseason with the lockout and some ugly bargaining negotiations, left-handed starter Carlos Rodon didn’t quite get the deal he deserved in free agency.
A few weeks before the start of the regular season, the San Francisco Giants came calling with a two-year, $44 million offer, which he accepted.
The proposal contained an opt-out clause after the 2022 campaign, which he exercised after a dominant showing.
He is now a free agent after posting a 2.88 ERA and a 2.25 Fielding Independent Pitching (FIP) in 178 innings with the Giants.
That performance resulted in a 6.2 Wins Above Replacement (WAR) output.
He both had an amazing season and erased any injury-related concerns about his elbow and shoulder.
In other words, he should be in position to get a multi-year pact at long last.
He will turn 30 in December, so he is still theoretically in his prime.
The question is: who will get his signature?

Four Candidates To Land Rodon’s Signature
The Giants are logical candidates to re-sign him after giving him a chance in 2021.
It will have to be under the figure of a multi-year deal, though.
The Los Angeles Dodgers have several openings in their rotation, after injuries, suspensions, and free agency derailed their 2023 plans.
The New York Yankees’ priority is re-signing Aaron Judge and fixing their offense, but they can’t be ruled out as they want to upgrade their rotation, too.
The Texas Rangers are going all in on pitchers and would be more than happy to pay a premium price for Rodon.
Who will get the talented southpaw?
