Aside from all the races for seasonal awards, division titles, and Wild Cards, some other important races are heating up right now, namely for certain records.
There are three players in Major League Baseball this year who are chasing records.
In the American League, we have New York Yankees slugger Aaron Judge, who has hit 57 home runs and is four homers shy of tying Roger Maris for the all-time American League home run record.
In the National League, we have two sluggers from the St. Louis Cardinals who are also going for some important records.
Paul Goldschmidt is chasing the Triple Crown, hitting .325 with 35 home runs and 110 RBI.
There’s also Albert Pujols, who is three home runs shy of 700 for his career.

Record Chases Heating Up
Things are getting quite exciting.
Here we have three of the best hitters in all of baseball who are absolutely tearing it up at the plate and chasing some records.
Fans in St. Louis are itching to see Pujols reach 700 home runs before his career ends.
They also want to see Goldschmidt take the Triple Crown and be the first National League player to do so since one of their own, Joe “Ducky” Medwick, did it in 1937.
In New York, Judge is hitting home runs left and right and is on pace to win the American League MVP Award.
He too, is chasing the Triple Crown.
Baseball in the month of September is always special.
But with these record chases heating up, things are getting even more exciting.
People want to see Judge tie and break Maris’ home run record.
They want to see both him and Goldschmidt potentially take home the Triple Crown and their respective leagues, as well as see Pujols reach 700 homers.
We’ve got just a few weeks left in the season, and we’ll see what happens in that time period.
