After the Los Angeles Lakers dominated their way to an NBA championship in 2020, they are eying another run this season.
Former NBA superstar Gilbert Arenas shared his predictions for 2021, simply saying “back-to-back.”
On Shannon Sharpe’s show, “Club Shay Shay”, he was asked about another team like the Brooklyn Nets competing with the Lakers.
“Listen, I watched the Nets for two weeks. They’re playing amazing, they’re working together amazing, but let’s not forget LeBron and that Cleveland squad,” Arenas said. “Went up against KD, Curry, Klay, Draymond. Four juggernauts. There’s only two now, and he got help.”
To Arenas, even the projected second-best team in the NBA can’t even compete with the Lakers.
It is something that many people think.
The team already has two of the NBA’s most talented players in LeBron James and Anthony Davis.

They form a duo that is hard for most teams to compete with.
The Lakers sat comfortably atop the Western Conference standings with a 52-19 record.
However, their playoff run further showed the team’s dominance.
In the first three rounds, the Lakers won each series handedly, four games to one.
This set up an NBA Finals matchup against the Miami Heat.
In this series against the Heat, the Lakers outmatched their opponents in every facet of the game.
This resulted in a dominating 4-2 series win, bringing the team’s 17th title to Los Angeles.
Along with them, general manager Rob Pelinka has gotten to work bolstering the team’s talented roster.
Now, the Lakers are looking to become an even more dominant force in the league.
Lakers 2021 Season Outlook
With the additions of Montrezl Harrell, Marc Gasol and Dennis Schroder, they are entering the 2021 season with an even better team.
It would be hard to argue that they are the outright favorites heading into the season.
When looking at the rest of the league from a talent standpoint, there are few others that compare.
The 2020-21 @Lakers:

Anthony Davis
Kentavious Caldwell-Pope
Montrezl Harrell
Dennis Schroder
Kyle Kuzma
Alex Caruso
Marc Gasol
Wesley Matthews
Markieff Morris
Alfonzo McKinnie

If there was anywhere they lacked last season, it was in their perimeter offense.
While guards Rajon Rondo and Danny Green produced for the team, they failed to be major difference makers for the team.
However, the team made the move to add Schroder to build their backcourt.
He brings the potential of a breakout talent that may thrive under the team’s tutelage.
The Harrell signing gives the Lakers the reigning Sixth Man of the Year Award off the bench.
Both of these make the team even stronger.
Wesley Matthews is another new signee that will be a contributor off the bench this season.
He takes over the role of Green, who fell out of favor with fans of the franchise after he struggled in the playoffs.
LeBron’s 18th NBA Season
With James entering this 18th season, he is the heart and soul of this team.
The best player in the league over that time, he has slowed no signs of slowing down, even as he is soon to be 36 years old.

As he has aged, he has become the NBA’s premier playmaker.
He even led the league in assists last season with 10.2 per game.
This bodes well for the team’s new additions, as he boosts the play of everyone on the floor.
With the Lakers, James is aiming to take over the top spot of all-time NBA players.
Many critics point to his now 4-6 record in the NBA Finals, which is something that is subject to change with how good the Lakers are.
Once again, LeBron is on the NBA’s best team with a very good chance to win another championship this season.
The Lakers clearly have put together a dynasty that aims to dominate the league in 2021.
