General manager Joe Schoen is starting to whittle the New York Giants roster.
He’s looking to clean up the mess that his predecessor Dave Gettleman made.
Releasing tight end Kyle Rudolph is the first in a series of moves that Schoen will make to give him flexibility with his options.
He might also put their better assets like cornerback James Bradberry and running back Saquon Barkley on the trading block.
If that’s the case, Giants’ beat reporter for The Athletic Dan Duggan identified the running trade value for both players.
Surveying sources in Indy, the consensus trade value for James Bradberry is a third-round pick and Saquon Barkley is a fourth-round pick. I'm skeptical that the Giants will pull the trigger on a Saquon trade.

Duggan said, “Surveying sources in Indy, the consensus trade value for James Bradberry is a third-round pick and Saquon Barkley is a fourth-round pick. I’m skeptical that the Giants will pull the trigger on a Saquon trade.”
Those price tags sound reasonable considering that as of this moment, Bradberry is the more valuable asset given his inclusion to the 2020 Pro Bowl and his solid 2021 season.
Meanwhile, the price tag for Barkley could have been higher if not for another disappointing campaign.
Sticking With Saquon
The Giants are hoping that he can still return to the explosive running back he was during his rookie and sophomore seasons.
Unfortunately, injuries derailed his career, rendering the second overall pick New York used to draft him wasted.
But the team is in a dilemma because without him, their backfield rotation is far worse.
Without him, they’d lag even further in their division which has Ezekiel Elliott, Tony Pollard, Antonio Gibson, and Miles Sanders.
The Giants picked up his fifth-year option worth $7,217,000.
It’s an amount that won’t break the team’s bank.
However, it could be Barkley’s last opportunity to prove that he’s worth a lofty contract extension.
