New York Giants quarterback Tyrod Taylor had another unfortunate incident in his career when he was carted off the field after taking a big hit from the New York Jets’ Micheal Clemons during their preseason finale.
It could be another setback, just like the injuries that cost him his job with the Los Angeles Chargers and the Houston Texans.
However, both his former teams are in good hands with Justin Herbert and Davis Mills.
Likewise, he got another lease on his NFL journey after the Giants released Davis Webb.
The Giants are releasing QB Davis Webb, per source. Speaks to the health of Tyrod Taylor.
Webb this preseason: 60-of-81 passing (74%) for 458 yards with 3 TDs, 0 INTs.
Will be interesting to see how this plays out.

ESPN’s Jordan Raanan tweeted, “The Giants are releasing QB Davis Webb, per source. Speaks to the health of Tyrod Taylor. Webb this preseason: 60-of-81 passing (74%) for 458 yards with 3 TDs, 0 INTs. Will be interesting to see how this plays out.”
While Webb did have a solid preseason, it was not enough to keep his spot with the Giants.
After spending his college days at Texas Tech and California, Webb was selected by the Giants in the third round of the 2017 NFL Draft.
He lasted for only a year before transferring to the Jets.
After one season with the Jets, he joined the Buffalo Bills and stayed there for three seasons, primarily as Josh Allen‘s backup.
Taylor Will Compete With Daniel Jones
Taylor will likely be the Giants’ top backup as they head into Week 1 of the 2022 NFL season.
Daniel Jones will still get a chance to prove that he is the right quarterback for the squad after they used a first-round selection on him.
However, the Giants should have some sense of security knowing that they have an able deputy in Taylor.
If Jones doesn’t live up to head coach Brian Daboll’s expectations, a change at quarterback could happen.
