New York Giants general manager Joe Schoen in his first few months at the helm
He had the last say in drafting Kayvon Thibodeaux, Evan Neal, and Wan’Dale Robinson in the 2022 NFL Draft.
Those three players are potential starters who can turn the team’s fortunes around.
Aside from building the roster by adding players, Schoen is also looking to add cap space by releasing one of their top players on defense.
All signs point to CB James Bradberry being released soon. GM Joe Schoen admitted on WFAN trade market tougher than expected. Also they had compensation in place but not contract terms.
Bottom line: Bradberry now getting released post-FA + draft when most $$$ is gone. Not ideal

ESPN NFL Nation reporter Jordan Ranaan tweeted, “All signs point to CB James Bradberry being released soon. GM Joe Schoen admitted on WFAN trade market tougher than expected. Also they had compensation in place but not contract terms.”
He added, “Bottom line: Bradberry now getting released post-FA + draft when most $$$ is gone. Not ideal.”
Bradberry was selected to the 2020 Pro Bowl after finishing with 43 solo tackles and three interceptions.
He also had a solid 2021 campaign with 36 solo tackles and four picks in 17 games.
However, he has already restructured his contract twice to give cap room.
In March of last year, he converted $8 million of his base salary into a signing bonus to free $4 million of space.
Seven months later, his contract went through another restructuring.
Time For Bradberry And The Giants To Part Ways
Bradberry would attract attention from other teams once he becomes available.
However, he might not get the price he wants because of his late release.
Teams have already committed remaining cap space for their draftees.
Therefore, his options are limited, forcing him to take less money.
The Giants selected LSU’s Cordale Flott in the third round of the draft.
If Bradberry is released, Flott will likely take his place and become a starter in his rookie year.
