The New York Giants have the building blocks of a formidable defensive unit.
They selected Azeez Ojulari in the second round of the 2021 NFL Draft.
He finished with eight sacks, the franchise record for sacks by a rookie.
A year later, they chose defensive end Kayvon Thibodeaux with the fifth overall selection in the 2022 draft.
However, Giants fans must wait before seeing this promising tandem in action.
Ojulari suffered a calf injury, while Thibodeaux suffered an MCL sprain from a cut block by Cincinnati Bengals tight end Thaddeus Moss.
But as ESPN’s Jordan Raanan shared, it seems both players are on their road to recovery in time for the season opener.
OLBs Kayvon Thibodeaux (knee) and Azeez Ojulari (calf) will be doing some individual drills, per coach Brian Daboll. First time we’ll see them since their injuries. Seems to at least give them a shot Sunday vs. Titans.

Raanan tweeted, “OLBs Kayvon Thibodeaux (knee) and Azeez Ojulari (calf) will be doing some individual drills, per coach Brian Daboll. First time we’ll see them since their injuries. Seems to at least give them a shot Sunday vs. Titans.”
If everything goes well, these two players could terrorize the Tennessee Titans in their season opener.
It’s been a while since Giants fans have been excited about their squad.
After all, they only have one winning season over the last ten years and made the playoffs just once.
They also had four coaching changes in five years, including the hiring of current head coach Brian Daboll.
Renewed Optimism With The Giants
Daboll’s arrival must have triggered a culture change within the organization.
Aside from the Ojulari-Thibodeaux tandem, Saquon Barkley is also entering the 2022 season with a stronger physique.
The former Buffalo Bills offensive coordinator will also give Daniel Jones a chance to shine by finding targets like Kadarius Toney, Kenny Golladay, and Wan’Dale Robinson.
The Giants hope to turn the tide with a strong showing this campaign.
