Giancarlo Stanton has primarily served as the designated hitter for the New York Yankees since being traded over from the Miami Marlins.
However, the Yankees have been experimenting a little by putting him in the outfield a little more frequently.
Fans may have forgotten that he was the Marlins’ everyday right fielder for a long time.
But now that he’s back out in the field in addition to hitting some absolute bombs, you can’t sleep on this man’s defense.
With one out in the bottom of the second inning on Monday night, Toronto Blue Jays slugger Matt Chapman hit a deep fly ball to right field that looked to be leaving the yard.
Stanton had other plans.

Highway Robbery
What a catch by Stanton.
Again, you can’t sleep on this guy’s defense.
He can still cover a lot of ground out there in right field and make some highlight-reel plays.
His reaction to it was great too.
When he came down with it and threw the ball back into the infield, cameras caught him making a devious little smirk.
This was the best part about it.
Why wouldn’t he be happy after making that play?
It’s alright for him to get a little pleasure out of robbing one of the best hitters in the game today of a home run.
People thought Stanton was just a hitter these days, but his defense is still pretty solid.
Sleeping on Stanton is a bad idea.
He’s hitting the ball well and playing great defense in a show of resurgence after injuries have plagued the past few seasons for him.
We’ll see if he’s got some more tricks up his sleeve after that highway robbery last night.
