America’s obsession with ranking players is in full swing now that the 2023 MLB season is nearing its start.
Even the league’s official site has joined the party and has started an exciting ranking: the top 100 players in baseball.
They are doing it in installments, starting from number 100 to number 91.

This part of the list starts and ends with players on the New York Yankees.
Giancarlo Stanton, who spent a big portion of the second half nursing lower-body issues, is ranked 100th to kick off the exercise.
Pitcher Nestor Cortes Jr., who had a brilliant 2.44 ERA in 2022 and earned his first All-Star gig, is ranked 91st.
In between, we have the cover star of the MLB The Show 2023 video game Jazz Chisholm Jr. in the 93rd spot.
Two members of the San Diego Padres, Joe Musgrove and the recently-extended Yu Darvish, are 96th and 95th, respectively.
Texas Rangers slugger Adolis Garcia is 99th, Yandy Diaz is 98th, and pitcher Logan Webb is 97th.
Philadelphia Phillies slugger Rhys Hoskins is 94th, and Kansas City Royals young star Bobby Witt Jr. checked in at 92nd.
The list is not yet complete and is already drawing some criticism, which is completely normal and to be expected.
bobby whitt jr had a 99 wrc+ and -18 drs but sure he’s a top 100 player

Why does the mlb video game have the 93 ranked player on the cover

Nestor, Musgrove, Darvish should be a bit higher

We are sure that Stanton and Cortes won’t be the only Yankees on the list.
Anthony Rizzo has a great case to be included, and of course Gerrit Cole and Carlos Rodon will make it.
The only question is whether Aaron Judge will be in the top three or the top five.
