Gerrit Cole had a rough night on Thursday against the Boston Red Sox at Fenway Park.
Though the bats of the New York Yankees picked him up and he earned his eighth win of the 2022 season, he still allowed five runs over six innings.
One man in particular has been the bane of Cole’s existence for the longest time.
Rafael Devers, who hit two home runs and drove in all five of the Red Sox runs, has been a thorn in everybody’s side this season.
The Red Sox third baseman is hitting .330 with 19 home runs and 51 RBI.
After the game, Cole had a perfect quote about Devers and his success, as seen in the tweet below.
Gerrit Cole on Rafael Devers:
"I'm open to suggestions."

“I’m Open To Suggestions”
At this point, anybody has to be open to suggestions when facing a guy like Devers, who has been tearing it up all season long.
He’s likely to be the one who starts at third base for the American League All-Stars when the starters are revealed later tonight.
But Devers has been a guy who has plagued Cole for a long time.
He’s been hard to get out or even pitch to for that matter.
So, in Cole’s case, he’s desperate to find a way to get Devers out.
When a guy has your number the way Devers has Cole’s, you’ll do anything and everything to find a potential solution in order to fix your problems against said player.
Cole is open to any suggestions as he said.
The only thing it can be compared to is when Pedro Martinez called the Yankees his “Daddies” way back when.
He acknowledged that he was struggling against them, the same way Cole is acknowledging his struggles against Devers.
