The Seattle Seahawks are playoff bound despite entering the season thinking about a rebuild after trading away Russell Wilson.
Geno Smith came in as the starting quarterback, beating out Drew Lock in a training camp battle, and Smith has been way better than anybody expected this season.
The Seahawks are facing the San Francisco 49ers on Saturday and have a top-5 pick in the 2023 NFL Draft thanks to the Wilson trade, and Smith’s numbers are impressive.
He finished the year with 4,282 yards, 30 touchdowns, and 11 interceptions and is likely going to be rewarded with a decent contract in the offseason.
Perhaps even more impressive is this stat: Geno Smith is the only quarterback in the NFL to take 100% of his team’s snaps this season.

In the offseason, the Seahawks inked Smith to a one-year, $3.5 million deal and had him compete with Lock, who came over as part of that massive Wilson blockbuster.
Almost a year later, Smith is in a prime position for a long-term deal, and the Seahawks can draft a QB in 2023 and have Smith play for a year or two until the next guy is ready, all while having a team that can feel confident after clinching a playoff spot in 2023.
With a league full of superstar QBs such as Tom Brady, Justin Herbert, Aaron Rodgers, Joe Burrow, Patrick Mahomes, and Josh Allen, only Smith played 100% of the snaps for his team this season.
That is incredible, and the Seahawks have a fighting chance against the 49ers in the playoffs.
