It’s not a secret that the Boston Celtics are in one of the biggest markets not only in the NBA but in the whole sports industry.
So, having them on the verge of doing something almost impossible was obviously a major reason to tune in to Game 7 vs. the Miami Heat.
The series had gone back and forth and both teams have developed a strong rivalry since the LeBron James-Paul Pierce era, and whoever won would seemingly get the ultimate bragging rights.
That’s why it’s not surprising to see that Game 7 was the highest viewed Eastern Conference Finals game ever aired on TNT, according to Richard Deitsch of The Athletic, via NBACentral.

The Celtics were able to come back all the way from a 3-0 deficit, and they were favored by as many as eight points in that Game 7.
They had everything going in their favor to become the very first team that could successfully come back from that 3-0 hole in the history of the NBA playoffs, but that obviously wasn’t the case.
The Celtics dropped the ball at home and lost by 19 to the No. 8 seed, missing yet another chance to make it to the NBA Finals.
Some believe the NBA Finals between the Denver Nuggets and Heat won’t attract that many viewers.
But even though it’s obviously not Lakers vs. Celtics, true hoop fans know those games will be must-watch television, and it could be way closer than most fans predict it’ll be.
