The San Diego Padres are a team that has never been afraid to go all-in.
Last season they made multiple blockbuster trades to acquire Juan Soto, Josh Hader, and Brandon Drury.
But, they still fell short of the ultimate goal after losing to the Philadelphia Phillies in the NLCS.
Now as the Padres get set for free agency, it is fair to expect them to make a few more splash moves.
Here are two free agents that should interest the San Diego Padres.
1. Chris Bassitt, Right Handed Pitcher
The Padres could benefit from adding another starting pitcher.
One name that is flying under the radar is Chris Bassitt.
The righty threw 181.2 innings last season with an ERA of 3.42.
Plus, Bassitt has experience pitching on the West Coast from his time with the Oakland A’s.
After losing Sean Manaea to free agency, the Padres need to add another starting pitcher.
Bassitt is 34 years old so adding him now would be a win-now move.
He would be a welcome addition to a Padres team that needs a reliable starter.
2. Xander Bogaerts, Shortstop
If the Padres are committed to making a splash move, then adding a shortstop like Xander Bogaerts would be a great move.
The 30-year-old shortstop has been one of the most consistent players in baseball throughout his career.

He still swings an elite bat along with playing solid defense.
Adding Bogaerts will allow the Padres to move Fernando Tatis Jr. to the outfield full-time.
Plus, this would become the best lineup in baseball if they can land the shortstop.
This would be the type of move that would put the whole league on notice.
