Freddie Freeman hasn’t skipped a beat since he left Atlanta.
He’s off to a hot start with the Los Angeles Dodgers in 2022, hitting .325 with an .879 OPS in his first 40 at-bats.
There was one thing missing heading into Monday night’s game against his old club, the Atlanta Braves, something that he hadn’t done yet as a member of the Dodgers.
But in the bottom of the first inning, the star first baseman made sure to check that off his to-do list, as he hit a deep fly ball out to left center field that cleared the wall and gave him his first home run as a member of the Dodgers.
Not to mention, it was his very first at-bat against his old team.

A Storybook Beginning
Though the sight probably wasn’t one that Braves fans wanted to see, it’s quite fitting that Freeman’s first home run in a Dodgers uniform came against his old team.
He is having a storybook start with his new team and doesn’t appear to have skipped a beat since he skipped town in Atlanta.
But Freeman is a native of Southern California so it’s a feel-good start for him.
He has immediately endeared himself to the fans in Los Angeles and is ready to take what he did in Atlanta and replicate it with his hometown team.
And to hit his first home run with his new team against the Braves had to have been a special moment for him.
We’ll see if he can continue to come through in the clutch and stay hot, and if he’s got any more surprises while he faces the Braves.
