Freddie Freeman sure had himself a whirlwind of a weekend.

The Los Angeles Dodgers‘ marquee signing of the offseason was making his return back to Truist Park in Atlanta to face off against his old team, the Atlanta Braves.

Each time he stepped up to the plate, Braves fans made sure to show Freeman their appreciation for all he did during his time in Atlanta.

Yet even through all of it, the excitement and the nostalgia, an emotional Freeman carried the load for the Dodgers as they took two out of three from the Braves.

Andy McCullough of The Athletic tweeted about what Freeman was able to do over the weekend, praising him for managing his emotions and still getting the job done.

To see Freddie Freeman deliver production like this, during a weekend in which the camera keeps catching him looking visibly distraught, is a ringing endorsement for his ability. The fellow seems wrecked but he keeps getting on base.

Staying Locked In

Freeman is certainly very worthy of praise, but the way he handled himself just speaks to his raw ability on the baseball field.

He felt so many emotions over the weekend as he made his return to Truist Park.

Each time he stepped up to the plate, he seemed to be holding back tears as he reminisced about all the great times he had in Atlanta.

He won an MVP with the Braves, was an All-Star several times, and he helped lead them to a World Series title.

But even as the memories flooded him, he still remained focused on the task at hand, which was to help the Dodgers beat the Braves.

Perhaps that gave him a little extra motivation.

But he fought through a ton of emotions, enjoyed his return to Atlanta, and made himself right back at home.

Still, Braves fans will always love him for what he was able to do in Atlanta.
