Frankie Montas was acquired by the New York Yankees in a trade with the Oakland Athletics as New York looked to beef up their starting rotation.
However, Montas hasn’t been himself since joining the Yankees.
In two of his first three starts, he has allowed six runs, which puts his ERA since joining the Yankees right at 9.00.
Montas did make it six innings last night against the Toronto Blue Jays, but only struck out two batters in what ended up being his 10th loss of the season, and the fact that both starts in which he has allowed six runs have been with the Yankees is a bit concerning.
This is the 2nd time this season Frankie Montas has allowed 6+ runs in a game.
Both of those games have come as a Yankee.

Montas’ Yankees Struggles
Montas made his Yankees debut on August 7 in St. Louis and lasted just three innings against the surging St. Louis Cardinals.
He was solid in his second start as a Yankee, but he has now allowed six runs in two of his past three starts.
Some of it could be chalked up to him just trying to adjust to a new environment, but with the Yankees playing as poorly as they have been lately, they need good results out of their big acquisition, and they need them sooner rather than later in order to get going again.
Sometimes, it just takes a little time to adjust to a new team, and that could very well be the case for Montas, but Yankees fans have to be a little bit concerned with what they’ve seen out of him so far.
Montas is 4-10 with a 3.87 ERA on the season.
The Yankees have dropped 13 out of their last 16 games and are 3-7 in their last 10.
We’ll see if Montas can pull it together for the stretch run.
