After months and months of the Los Angeles Lakers saying they were going to turn their season around, things haven’t changed at all.
They’ve been claiming that they still had a chance for a strong playoff run even just a few weeks ago.
But following another shocking loss to the New Orleans Pelicans on Sunday night, the Lakers are starting to get honest about their chances.
“Time’s running out on us,” Frank Vogel says, giving the quote that will appear in headlines across the globe tonight.

After the 116-108 defeat at the hands of the Pelicans, head coach Frank Vogel put it simply, saying: “Time’s running out on us.”
He’s not wrong and no one is going to argue with that.
Is there any chance they can cobble together a winning formula in the last few weeks of the season?
Play-In Problems
For weeks now, it’s been very obvious that the Lakers were headed to the NBA Play-In Tournament.
Teams seven through ten in each conference have to battle it out in order to secure the seventh and eighth seeds in the playoffs.
Right now, LA is clinging to the tenth spot.
They are only one win ahead of the San Antonio Spurs, which means that if the Spurs even win a couple more games while the Lakers lose a few more, their positions will switch.
If that happens, the Lakers won’t even have a chance to fight for a spot in the postseason.
LA hasn’t been able to figure out what’s wrong with them.
They’ve been tinkering with their lineups and changing the way they play and still, nothing has come of it.
Hopefully, Anthony Davis returns from injury soon.
And hopefully, LeBron James isn’t hurt and forced to sit out.
Maybe then Vogel and the team will be able to dig deep and find a fire in their bellies.
If not, the Lakers are about to start an extra-long summer vacation.
