It’s easy to point out quarterback Carson Wentz being the weak link of the Indianapolis Colts.
The team had two opportunities to clinch a playoff spot but failed because of his subpar performances.
He had his worst game all season against the lowly Jacksonville Jaguars when he finished with 185 yards, a touchdown, and an interception.
That performance got him an abysmal QBR of 4.3 even though he was playing against a weak team.
Wentz’s production during the homestretch led Colts fans and football experts to think that a trade is imminent.
But even in despair, Colts head coach Frank Reich continues to vouch for the former North Dakota State standout, as shared by The Athletic’s Zak Keefer.
Colts coach Frank Reich on Carson Wentz: “I believe in Carson. I stuck my neck out for him. I believe he’s going to continue to have a lot of success at quarterback. That might be here, that might not be here. But I believe in him as a person and player.”

Keefer tweeted, “Colts coach Frank Reich on Carson Wentz: “I believe in Carson. I stuck my neck out for him. I believe he’s going to continue to have a lot of success at quarterback. That might be here, that might not be here. But I believe in him as a person and player.”
That’s a bold vote of confidence from a coach who has had a relationship with Wentz since their days with the Philadelphia Eagles.
Reich believes that Wentz’s return to becoming a bright prospect isn’t complete.
However, there’s an intriguing line from the coach’s statement.
Is Wentz Definitely On The Way Out Of Indianapolis?
While Reich believes that Wentz will have success as a quarterback, he gave an inclination that he might continue his career elsewhere by adding the phrase “that might not be here.”
Is he aware of a trade being hatched to send Wentz away?
Or are the Colts trying to bring in another quarterback like Aaron Rodgers or Russell Wilson?
Those questions will only be answered as the offseason continues.
