With the pennant race in full swing, the New York Mets and the defending World Series champion Atlanta Braves are set to play what could in fact be the series of the 2022 season.
New York is ahead of Atlanta by one game as they head to Truist Park for the weekend series.
But with Hurricane Ian expected to potentially impact the series, the Braves chose not to relocate the games, despite Atlanta being subjected to potential rain showers tomorrow.
When asked about Atlanta’s choice to keep the series at Truist Park, Francisco Lindor said that it didn’t matter to him and that no matter where the series took place, it was going to be a sellout crowd, and that if it wasn’t, baseball would have a serious problem.
Lindor was asked if he could understand ATL not wanting to relocate games: "Wherever you put the game it’s going to sell out. You could put it in Japan and it’s going to sell out. We’re fighting for the division, if it doesn’t sell out there is something wrong with the sport.”

Lindor Sounds Off On Huge Series
It’s easy to understand why the Braves don’t want to relocate the games.
This is the most exciting time of year, when baseball is truly at its best.
These two teams are fighting for a division title and the race is coming right down to the wire.
Either team could emerge victorious.
It is possible that with all the rain headed towards Atlanta on Friday, the series opener could potentially be postponed, setting up a doubleheader on Saturday or Sunday.
But Lindor’s take on the situation is a good one.
Regardless of weather or even location, this series is going to draw a ton of fans from both sides.
Mets fans travel pretty well, and the Braves will already have a sellout crowd, given where they stand.
It’s going to be an exciting series either way, and we’ll see who ultimately emerges victorious in the NL East as a result.
