There has been a wave of support for Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson after he became an honorable mention in a recent NFL top ten quarterbacks list.
The results were based on a poll conducted by ESPN among NFL coaches, players, scouts, and executives.
Unsurprisingly, reigning Most Valuable Player Aaron Rodgers topped the list.
However, Jackson’s exclusion prompted some former players and analysts to argue on his behalf.
NBC Sports’ Warren Sharp recalled how Jackson brought the Ravens to the top of the AFC in December even if some of their key players were out due to injury.
To further drive his point, Sharp also mentioned that Baltimore went winless when he suffered a season-ending ankle injury.
There’s also Ryan Clark, who thinks that it’s weird that he is the only MVP in the last four years that is not on the list.
This time, former NFL quarterback and current analyst Dan Orlovsky is making a case for Jackson.
Lamar Jackson in his first 4 NFL Seasons
He’s started 49 games-(3 seasons—He didn’t start the first 10 games of his career and missed the last 6 last season)
So that’s 12 wins a season, 4300 yds per and 35 TDs per season. That’s elite. That’s win because of.
THATS TOP 10— Dan Orlovsky (@danorlovsky7) July 12, 2022
Orlovsky tweeted, “Lamar Jackson in his first 4 NFL Seasons: He’s started 49 games-(3 seasons—He didn’t start the first 10 games of his career and missed the last 6 last season). So that’s 12 wins a season, 4300 yds per and 35 TDs per season. That’s elite. That’s win because of. THATS TOP 10.”
The List Is Bogus Without Jackson In The Top Ten
He stressed his point by typing “THATS TOP 10” in all caps.
But an average of 12 wins, 4,300 yards, and 35 touchdowns per season should put him in the top ten.
Is this another case of ignoring what he has done because he is an unconventional quarterback?
If Dak Prescott is number ten on that list, Jackson should be way higher.
It’s just right to have Jackson in and Prescott out because the former has better credentials.
His exclusion from the top ten further proves that the NFL still hasn’t figured out Jackson.
