Having shoulder surgery might have hurt his chances of playing for another team.
Likewise, his performance during last year’s playoffs isn’t particularly enticing either.
Garoppolo did enough to help the 49ers reach the NFC Championship Game but there are other factors beyond him that led to their victory.
But given that training camp is about to start soon, former NFL quarterback Robert Griffin III thinks that one team should try to get Garoppolo.
If Deshaun Watson is suspended for an extended period of time, the Browns should trade for Jimmy Garoppolo. No matter how you feel about Jimmy G, he is a proven winner for a roster ready to win now.

Griffin tweeted, “If Deshaun Watson is suspended for an extended period of time, the Browns should trade for Jimmy Garoppolo. No matter how you feel about Jimmy G, he is a proven winner for a roster ready to win now.”
He does make sense and Garoppolo will be nothing more than a one-year rental, granted that Watson’s suspension will last for only one season.
However, this option is connected to the possibility that Watson does get suspended that long.
His case is still pending as former federal judge Sue Robinson is hearing the cases of both sides.
To sum it up, the league is pushing for a suspension for a least one year while Watson’s camp is hoping for a reduced suspension.
Robinson’s recommendations will be finalized before the training camp starts.
Garoppolo Would Feel At Home In Cleveland’s Offense
If the Browns do end up following Griffin’s suggestion, it’s like Garoppolo never left the 49ers.
Given that he needs little time to adjust, Garoppolo can run Cleveland’s system from the get-go.
